HOW CAN IT HAPPEN?

Snatch thieves expect you to be off guard when they strike, and all they need is a few seconds to make their getaway. Common methods used to distract attention are:

Approaching victims on the pretext of striking up a conversation, seeking assistance, changing cash, etc

Snatching handbags / necklaces / valuables from the rear by motorcyclists

Soiling victims' clothing and offering to clean the stains

Telling victims that he / she has dropped money on the floor

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Snatch thefts can be prevented. You can minimize the risk of being a victim if you take up simple crime preventive measures

Avoid taking shortcuts through dark alleys or secluded areas

Be wary of suspicious characters who follow or try to distract your attention

Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
